Types of Visa in India - All About Tourist and Business Visas

There are different types of visas in India issued by the Government of India for the purpose of the visit in India. The most common types of visas issued are tourism and business visas. Attached are guidelines for both types of visas.

Tourist visa
Tourist visas are awarded to people wishing to visit India as tourists. The government can issue a tourist visa valid for more than six months, but the person holding a tourist visa can stay in the country for a maximum of six months. Business Visa

With the opening of the economy, India opened its doors to entrepreneurs. Business visas are available to entrepreneurs wishing to explore business opportunities in India, conduct business in India or attend business conferences organized by private organizations in India.

A person who holds a business visa cannot work or make compensation from any Indian party while in India. To apply for a business visa, the application must be accompanied by a letter from the host organization detailing the nature of the business, the expected duration of the stay, the sites and organizations to be visited and a guarantee of the cost of maintenance.

Multiple-entry visas are issued with a validity of up to six months. The maximum residence time in India for a person with a business visa must not exceed six months. The government only issues 10-year business certificates to persons who have established or intend to establish joint ventures in the country. Applicants wishing to work on projects in India should apply for a work permit and not a business permit.
